Towing From a Soft Shoulder Near Homestead
A grassy, sandy or rain-soaked shoulder can make a routine tow more complicated. Avoid spinning the tires or moving deeper into soft ground, and focus first on keeping everyone away from traffic.
Report the position, not only the address
Give the road, travel direction, nearest cross street or mile marker and a map pin. Describe how far the vehicle is from pavement, whether the ground slopes and whether standing water, a ditch, fence or narrow gate affects access.
Do not improvise a recovery
Do not attach straps to unknown vehicle points or ask bystanders to pull the car. Incorrect attachment and unstable ground can injure people or damage the vehicle. If the car is in floodwater, near downed power lines or creating a traffic emergency, stay away and call emergency authorities.
Explain the vehicle condition
Tell dispatch whether the wheels are buried, tires are flat, steering works, keys are present and collision damage exists. Photos taken from a safe position may help show access. Confirm the destination and any gate instructions before transport.
